When Carroll Smith left this earth on May 16, 2003, he left behind a great legacy. Did another person touch (and teach) more
racers than Carroll? I doubt it. Through his books and his ever-willing desire to help, many of us were able to achieve our
dream of racing success. I was privileged to have known him and was honored to have Carroll in my life. Although I'll miss
him, I will continue to strive to succeed in racing and in life.
Racing has always been a dream of mine. "Change" and "Improvement" have
been the keys since the first Formula Ford purchase in September, 2001.
This is my first car, the
Red Road Racing Swift DB-1, as it appeared at The California Speedway on February
2, 2003.
During our first year, I moved from a Novice Permit to a Regional License to a National License. The DB-1 was such a
good car for me that when the pervious owner (Tom Christ) decided to sell his DB-6, I wanted it! I didn't
think I could afford it but when I was telling my wife how wonderful the DB-6 was, she said, "Honey, you deserve it!
You should get it!" What a woman!!

for all the help and support over the years. Also worth a Special Mention are Carroll Smith and Gunnar
Lindstrom for their continued support and encouragement. For '03, composite expert Tom Irwin of T3 Composites
joined the team. The SoCal Formula Ford community and the guru's on the late and lamented Formula
Ford Underground have also been invaluable sources of information, parts and assistance! Now my two sons will add to the results here!
